![]() ![]() ![]() Instead of just closing each ring and starting the next one without reversing my work and tying a knot, I decided to go ahead and reverse my work, tie a knot, and then add a 1 ds chain. This allowed me to get back to the same starting point for the next ring as I would have been at after just closing (and not reversing) the previous ring. This allowed me to have all of "right" and "wrong" sides of each of the rings facing the same direction, and the extra little chains opened up the center of the butterfly. I like this more open little butterfly, especially since a bead could be added in the center of the body. The revised butterfly is on the left, and the revised pattern follows. ![]() Close, tie knot and reverse work. Ch: 1ds. Close, tie knot and reverse work. http://www.geocities.com/tatrasutra/tatbtrfly.html. The butterfly on the top right is made with Caron size 10 crochet cotton. The two butterflies on the bottom are made with size 5 pearle cotton. ![]() with a change in the pattern. Instead of the Josephine Knots for the head: 5 ds, very small picot, 5 ds, close ring (do not reverse work). Then I used a piece cut from the extra thread on the needle, to pull through the small picot on the head. I tied the thread in a square knot, and trimmed to form antennae. I found this was much easier to work with than the Josephine Knots and very long picot that had to then be cut and tied. ![]() | |
