  STEP 25. This is what the fifth petal looks like when it has been gathered. You will see in the picture that the petals are not being stitched to the base of the rose, but rather they are being stitched in a folde in the middle of the ribbon of the previous row, with the thumb nail inserted under the ribbon where the stitch is being made.
