you will need the following items to complete your Sweetheart Needlebook: one 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of fabric for back panel of needlebook two 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" pieces of fabric for inside panels of needlebook one 12" length of 3"-3/12" wide lace for inside pockets, or two 5-1/2" x 12" lengths of fabric for inside pockets two 1-1/4 yard lengths of size 5 Pearle Cotton for finishing edges of needlebook pages two 36" lengths of size 5 Pearle Cotton for attaching needlebook panels one 36" length of size 5 Pearle Cotton for making hinges and button loop one 27" length of piping, braid or lace for outside edge of needlebook small amount of braid or an elastic ponytail holder*** or material of your choice for button loop one shank button (optional) one tassel (optional) Ribbons**, floss and beads of your choice. *100% cotton flannel and batting are recommended, as polyester will wick moisture, causing pins and needles to rust. **Approximately 2 yards of 7mm silk ribbon in various colors was used
to embellish the front panel of this project, with approximately 3/4 yard
7mm silk ribbon used for leaves. Note that variations in ribbon add to the
appeal of the embellishment. This is a great opportunity to use up scraps
from your "ribbon compost bin." ***I learned about using an elastic ponytail holder from Marie Alton, who designed a chatelaine pattern that I made. To learn more about Marie's work and her Chatelaine pattern, please visit her website at http://sredeluxe.tripod.com/. | |||||||
